Hello & welcome to Big Day Coordination's blog!
For my first blog post, I wanted to introduce myself to you and share about my vision for my business and this blog. My name is Meaghan Hildinger, and as you may have guessed, I'm the gal "behind the screen" of Big Day Coordination.
Big Day Coordination is a wedding planning & coordination business, offering everything from "day-of" coordination to full-service planning. You can read more about why I recommend hiring a day-of coordinator (who is not a friend or family) and what a day-of coordinator actually does on my website, but the short version is this:
A day-of coordinator is someone who comes alongside the Bride for her Big Day & executes all of the hard work and planning that has already been done. A DOC is someone who manages the day, the vendors, the timeline, the people, and the unforeseen so that the Bride and all of her loved ones can enjoy the wedding day carefree and stress-free.
Now, how about a little about me?
I live in the wonderful, quirky city of Denton, Texas with my husband and our two kitten daughters, Schatzi & Hadiyya.
When I'm not coordinating weddings or holding a bridal consult over coffee or wine, I might be chipping away at earning my MBA online, enjoying my backyard, or getting a massage.
My eyes always look up anytime an airplane is passing overhead, because I used to be a flight attendant and a little piece of my heart will always be in the clouds.
I'm passionate about Jesus and traveling, addicted to coffee, and enamored with all things German (in an alternate universe, I probably moved there after earning my minor in German in 2013).
I enjoy cooking and hosting people in my home or backyard, love a good small business or hand-crafted cocktail, and will always wish I'd spent more time on my musical talents (piano, saxophone, vocals).
My hopes for Big Day Coordination are still developing, but here's what I know for sure: I love people, event planning, love, weddings, and marriage. It brings me immense satisfaction to plan and oversee the many intricate components of a large event, and then watch everything come together as planned. There is something deeply empowering about creating something for myself and helping someone on one of the most memorable days of their life in the process.
So with all of that, my vision is this: to bring a bit of peace and order to someone's Big Day and to feel enriched in the process.
As far as this blog is concerned, I'll be sharing venue visits, highlighting vendors in the DFW metroplex, and penning tips & tricks from my experience as an event planner and a bride.
How did I do?
It's always hard trying to explain the essence of who you are to strangers, isn't it? We are complex beings with layered personalities, and sometimes I'm not even sure how well I know myself. How do I sum myself up in a quick blog post? I'd love to answer your questions or hear about who you are!
Where are you in your wedding planning journey? How did you meet your fiance? Let me know in the comments!
