This post highlights a tour of The Nest at Ruth Farms, which is a gorgeous, white-washed venue out in Ponder, Texas. Whitney, the Venue Manager, was so sweet to chat with about the family-owned and operated venue, and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about how the business is guided by their Christian faith and principles.

All photos were taken on my iPhone, but I hope to update this post with some professional photos in the future!
The Nest is in Ponder, TX, just 20 minutes away from downtown Denton. It sits among rural farmland, so you and your guests can enjoy "getting away" for your special day. The space has many options for you to customize to your vision and includes a foyer (great for a cocktail hour or bar space), a main room (behind the French doors in the photos above), two identical wings off of the main room, and a loft-like space above both halves of the venue.
With so many different spaces at your disposable, the possibilities are almost endless. Of course, Whitney has some wonderful suggestions about what you can do with the space (like how to make your reception flip easier by storing your pre-set tables in the wings, or to place your DJ in the loft).
The Bridal Suite was carefully planned with you & your girls in mind! There's plenty of natural lighting and seating, and the sink is placed outside of the toilet area (big deal!). They also thought to include a faux wall for changing privacy, or for the Bride to have a "dress reveal" to her girls. The Groom's Suite is also pretty awesome, and has an exterior door leading to the backside of the venue. Perfect for a private escape as guests begin to arrive, or if the guys choose to explore the grounds.
The back patio space & outdoor ceremony site are both gorgeous! The ceremony site is actually still a work-in-progress and will be even more picture-perfect once completed. I love that bistro lighting is already hung for you, and that patio space would be perfect for some yard games or a cocktail hour.
The Nest also has several features that I love for a DIY/Budget wedding. At our DIY wedding, we created our own "DIY photobooth" using props & camera lighting. The blank walls (or awesome doors) throughout the venue would be perfect for that! Additionally, The Nest has an open vendor policy (with one exception), so you're able to save money by picking your own caterer (see prep kitchen) and purchase your own booze. The venue is currently BYOB, but you are required to use bartending services through HD Liquid Catering. (Side note: HD Liquid Catering is awesome anyways, so that one exception to the open vendor policy is not bad!).
One final budget feature that I love is an in-house sound system! You're able to plug in your device or use bluetooth, and there are volume controls for each area of the venue. This is a wonderful feature if you aren't able to include a professional DJ in your budget and don't really have a "dancing" crowd.
All in all, The Nest is gorgeous & and at a decent price point that includes venue use from 9:00 a.m. - Midnight & one setup. Additionally, you're able to schedule time at The Nest for engagement pictures or bridal portraits (Whitney said there's a hidden natural pond further out on the grounds that would be perfect for photographs)! You should definitely schedule a venue tour at this new Denton-area wedding venue before booking your Big Day.
If you're anything like me, you'll come away with tons of Wedding inspiration! It's that gorgeous.
